Policy on Pollution Prevention

Abadan values efficient ship operation with paramount objective towards environmental protection to (1) Ensure Safety at Sea (2) Prevent Human Injury (3) Avoid Damage to Marine Environment and (4) Strive for Cleaner Ocean. In order to achieve these objectives, the company shall carryout its ship operation adhering to (1) Safety Management System in compliance with relevant IMO Resolution (2) The International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention and (3) The observance of ISM Code emphasizing on Safe Practices & working environment ; safeguarding risks; attention to safety management skills; preparedness for emergencies; Complying with mandatory rules and regulations and applicable codes, guidelines, and standards recommended by IMO, Flag State, Classification Societies and Marine Industry Organization.

Policy on Drugs and Alcohol

Recognizing that the use or consumption of drugs, alcohol or any similar substance in work environment will adversely affect the production & performance; diminish the skills of the employee and seriously the environment and the property, the company has a well-defined policy to maintain a safe, healthy and result oriented employees and the work environment. Accordingly, all employees are liable to obey the company’s policies and exhibit responsibility towards the company, the subordinates and clients to prevent & avoid the use, possession, distribution and sale of illegal or non-prescription drugs on company’s premises and aboard company’s vessels. Any employee found to violate this policy will be a cause for termination of the employment including other statutory action against such employee. The use, possession of any kind of weapons or explosives on company’s premises and aboard company’s vessel is forbidden and is a cause for termination of employment. The management of the company holds the rights on employees for testing drug and alcohol while discharging duties on company’s premises and onboard vessel. The master or crew of our vessel will not be allowed to perform the duty in case found to have consumed alcohol and such forbidden substances

Policy on Safety & Environment Protection

The company endeavors that all employees in every function within the organization execute the work under safe conditions keeping in view the concern for protecting the environment. The Managing Director expects that everyone within the organization whether ashore or onboard ship follow the standards and instructions issued by the company ensuring that the Safety and Environmental protection policy is well understood, implemented and maintained. Ultimate responsibility remains with every unit head of the organization. The company aims to (1) Eliminate possible dangers which may result in personal injury, accidents, damage to the environment and damage to property; (2) Deploy Safety Management System endeavoring at prevention of errors, hazardous situations and incidents as well as point out non-conformities within our system; (3) carryout internal auditing upon on the reporting of accidents, incidents and hazardous occurrences for remedial actions by the company and the information obtained is used to assess the continued effectiveness of our system during our Management Review Meetings; (4) Provide highest priority for the Safety and Environment Protection emphasizing that the deployed standards to be met with the total commitment by every individual within our company and onboard vessel (5) Provide for safe practices in our ship operation by developing and issuing procedures, guidelines and work instructions based on statutory requirements, past experience or as a result of incidents, accidents, internal audits and management reviews; (6) Ensure a safe working environment, by recognizing training needs and only properly trained personnel are used in any particular task; (7) Provide for continuous improvement of the safety management skills of our personnel both ashore and on board our ship; (8) Ensure proper preparedness for emergencies both safely related and environmental including conducting regular exercises to ensure that all involved employees can effectively contribute in an emergency situation; (9) Ensure that our vessels are always in a regular class position, and that statutory certificates remain valid at all times and (10) Abadan management will ensure that codes, guidelines, and standards recommended by IMO, Flag State, Classification Societies, and marine industry organization that are applicable to our activities are taken into account on updated basis

Abadan Responsibility & Authority

  • Abadan will be the operator of the vessels acquired as well managed
  • Abadan’s responsibility to be well founded as per organization hierarchy
  • Ultimate responsibility for the company rests with the MD & the Board.
  • Operational & Chartering responsibility of entire fleet rest with one director
  • Maintenance and Technical responsibility of entire rest with one director
  • Crew Management responsibility of entire fleet rest with one director
  • Abadan’s all Administrative responsibilities rest one director
  • Abadan’s Accounting & Auditing responsibilities rest with CAO
  • Abadan will have required Vice Presidents for respective role to perform
  • On board a ship, the respective Master is responsible for all matters
  • Abadan intends operational support services by own & agency resources

Master’s Responsibility and Authority

  • On Board the ship operated by Abadan, the Master is the company’s representative and carries the authority at the highest management level in the ship. The Master on board vessel shall, (1) Implement the safety and environmental protection policy of our company and ensures that every seafarers onboard read the manual provided by the company; (2) Liaise & Motivate the officers and crew in the implementation of our safety and environmental protection policy; (3) Issue appropriate orders and instructions in a clear and simpler manner; (4) Verify that the specific requirements of our safety and environmental protection policy are followed; (5) Review the Safety Management System and its operation on board to report deficiencies, if any, to the shore-based management; (6) Should make a report on the non-conformities, accidents and hazardous occurrences that occur onboard and submit the report to the shore-based management; (7) Have the over ridding authority and the responsibility to make decisions with respect to safety and pollution prevention; (8) Always liaise and request the assistance from the shore-based management while at port or at anchorage or on voyage and (9) Have the responsibility for the drawing and disbursing of wages /salary to crew on board besides responsible to provide due accounting to the company
