This is a sister company of Abacus Logistics Solutions Private Limited, which is in existence for the past 36 years providing IT solutions. Abadan has been floated by promoters with a specific aim of owning and operating ships in Indian Flag to be given on charter for carrying dry bulk cargo to start with and to expand to other sectors of shipping such as Tanker, General Cargo and other specialised vessels. The promoters are also involved as stake holders and in the top management of another sister company by name Dhanveir Groups Shipping Pvt Ltd. The idea of Abadan to initially go for acquire and operate dry bulk Panamax size vessel to move Indian cargoes between Indian ports has been conceived to fill the gap of non-availability of Indian Flag vessels for Indian cargo as well as to take advantage of Cabotage Law which gives legal preference to Indian Flag vessels over the foreign flag vessels to carry Indian cargo in Indian waters.
The company is managed by a retired Bureaucrat from Government of India and Master Mariner as well Marine Engineers of long-standing experience and expertise in shipping. The Managing Director of the company, besides an IT professional, is a core shipping expert of having a wide exposure and rich experience in all aspects of shipping industry. During his tenure in the central Government has contributed significantly towards development of Indian Shipping. He is the fore sole person introduced Multimodal Transportation in India.
